St Andrew Primitive Baptist Church

In the early 1950s a little group of God’s Children, of the Primitive Baptist faith and practice, set about to hold Church Services in Panama City, Florida. The little group began meeting in homes to sing, pray, and have preaching services. Several ministers would travel into the area to preach for them. Interest began to grow and on May 17, 1953 St. Andrew Primitive Baptist Church was constituted. They took the name St. Andrew from the name of the local community. On May 30, 1953 Elder H.E. Harris was called to be their first Pastor and he accepted. In August 1953, St. Andrew Primitive Baptist Church had its first Communion Service. The Church met in temporary locations until their building was completed. In May 1957 the Church began meeting in our present location at 2100 Michigan Avenue. This little band of believers have faithfully committed themselves to humbly worship God in spirit and in truth, with simplicity and sincerity as we believe the Bible to teach us. Our services are very simple. On Sundays we meet for worship at 10:30 AM. We begin with a-cappella singing and prayers at 10:30. The preaching services are usually from 11:00 to 12:00. On the Second, Fourth, and Fifth Sundays we have a covered dish lunch and fellowship immediately after the morning service. On Wednesday evenings our services begin at 6:30. Usually the Wednesday evening services are a Bible Study led by the Pastor. In all our services, families (parents and children of all ages) sit together during the service. We invite our neighbors and visitors to our area, to come worship with us. It is our great desire to receive our visitors with brotherly love and fellowship.
