Foundations of our Doctrine of Faith

We believe in only one true and living God, and that He reveals Himself to His people in His word, under the character of Father, Word and Holy Ghost, and these three are one.

John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I John 5:7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments of the Authorized King James Version of the Holy Bible are the revealed Word of God, and we believe the Scripture of the New Testament to be the only rule of our Faith and practice in Church Government.

II Peter 1:21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

II Timothy 3:16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 17 “That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

We believe in the doctrine of original sin. That is, when God created Adam he was good and without sin. When Adam disobeyed God, he and all his posterity after him became sinners and fell under consequential penalty and shame of sin.

Romans 5:12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Psalm 51:5Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

We believe in man’s incapacity to recover himself from the fallen state he is in by nature, by his own free will and ability.

John 6:44No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Jeremiah 13:23Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

We believe in the doctrine of eternal and particular election. That is, before the foundation of the world the Lord chose a great body, that no man can number, of people to be His very own.

Ephesians 1:4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Romans 8:30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by His imputed righteousness.

II Corinthians 5:21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Jeremiah 23:6In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

We believe that God’s elect are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called.

Ephesians 1:4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

II Thessalonians 2:13But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

We believe that the people of God are predestined to eternal salvation.

Romans 8:30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Ephesians 1:5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

We believe that washing the saints’ feet in a church capacity, immediately after communion should be practiced as Christ gave the example.

John 13:4He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

John 13:13Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.

We believe that baptism and the Lord ’s Supper are ordinances of Jesus and that true believers are the only fit subjects of these ordinances, and the mode of baptism is immersion in water. [Communion is only administered to Primitive Baptists of like faith and practice. Those who have been removed from Church Fellowship must be received back into the Church before they can take communion. The Church should seek to encourage and exhort such members so as to restore them as soon as possible.]

Luke 3:21Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice caine from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Acts 8:37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

Matthew 26:26And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

We believe that no minister has the right to administer the ordinances of the gospel, but such as are called of God, as was Aaron; and come under the hands of the presbytery.

Acts 13:2As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

Acts 13:3And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

I Timothy 4:14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

We believe the saints shall be preserved in grace and never fall.

John 10:28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Colossians 3:3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

We believe in the resurrection of the dead, small and great, and a general judgment, and that the punishment of the wicked shall be everlasting and the joys of the righteous shall be eternal.

John 5:28Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Acts 17:31Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Psalms 9:17The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Matthew 25:46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Revelations 21:4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

We believe it is the duty of God’ people to walk steadfastly in good works; not in the Old Covenant way of seeking life and the favor of the Lord by it, but only as a duty from a principle of love.

Ephesians 2:10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

We believe that Jesus is the head of the Church and that no intermediaries of authority are allowed or necessary in the administration of church order and discipline.

 Ephesians 2:20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
