I Corinthians 13:2 “And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.”
A man without “charity” (love in action, demonstrated by word and deed) loses any advantage or blessing he might obtain with his extraordinary gifts. A man might “have the gift of prophecy”; that is, he might be able to declare the Word of God with great power, authority, and clarity; but, if he “have not charity” he is “nothing”. A man might be able to unravel and explain the mysteries found in the Word of God and in science; but, if he “have not charity” he is “nothing”. A man might have “all knowledge”, such that he is able to speak upon and explain any topic that is raised to him; but, if he “have not charity” he is “nothing”. A man might “have all faith, so that” he “could remove mountains”; but, if he “have not charity” he is “nothing”. A mighty man that does not show sincere “charity” to those around him, will soon show himself to be “nothing” for he will render himself useless and without value to everyone around him. The same word that is translated “charity” is also translated “love” in Revelation 2:4; that is, they had ceased to actively show sincere “love” to one another, to the Church, to the Gospel, etc. Therefore, the Lord told them “Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” (Revelation 2:5). A Church that does not actively show their “charity”, “love” will soon cease to be a Church! Now is the time for the Children of God in our Country to stand firm in the blessedness of “charity”!
