Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”
The God we worship and serve “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”. According to Romans 8:9-11, “the Spirit of God” dwells in the Elect (I Peter 1:2), Born Again (John 3:1-8) Children of God; that is, “the Spirit of Christ”, “the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus” (the Father), and the Holy “Spirit that dwelleth in you”. So, “the power that worketh in us” is “the power” of God Himself. The phrase, “the power that worketh in us”, refers to events and actions brought about by the great “power” “of God” “that worketh in us”. By this great “power” we lovingly know and worship our “God”, we believe and know things for which there is no other evidence than the “faith” that “God” “worketh in us” (Hebrews 11:1; 12:2). By this great “power” “that worketh in us” we are able to behave humbly, patiently, kindly, and lovingly toward those around us, especially toward our Church and natural family. By this great “power” “that worketh in us” we are able to endure great disadvantage and hardship and loss and even suffering for the sweet privilege of serving our “God”. By this great “power” “that worketh in us” we are able to rejoice, be contented, and be at peace, even when it seems like the world around us is falling apart. By this great “power” “that worketh in us” we are able to declare our Lord’s Gospel, comfort and console one another, and worship together in His Beloved Church. Furthermore, by this great “power” “that worketh in us” we are able to “Do all things without murmurings and disputings” (Philippians 2:14) and “do all things through Christ which strengtheneth” us (Philippians 4:13)! By this great “power” “that worketh in us” we are able to “lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 And make straight paths for your feet” (Hebrews 12:12-13); that is, we are able to cheerfully face our tribulations and just keep right on worshiping and serving our Lord!
