2020-09-07 Comfort In The Midst Of Tribulation

Acts 7:55  “But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,  56  And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

The Lord told His disciples, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” (John 14:18), and He is true to His Word!  This comfort is not only for His Apostles, but for us too.  When Stephen was about to be stoned to death for declaring the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Lord gave him indescribable Comfort, He “opened” up “the heavens” and allowed him to see “the Son of man standing on the right hand of God”.  Such a scene would utterly defeat all fear and anxiety of an ominous death.  Such a scene would cause him to pray for his persecutors.  Such a scene would overwhelm the pain of the pelting stones.  Such a scene will make us declare, “to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21) and “to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better” (Philippians 1:23).  It is true that “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair9  Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed10  Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.”  (II Corinthians 4:8-10).  No matter how difficult or taxing our problems become, our Lord will send “the Holy Ghost”, the blessed “Comforter” (John 14:16, 26) to ease our sufferings until He takes us HOME!
