John 15:1 “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”
“Every branch in” Christ Jesus our Lord is Spiritually fed directly from the Lord Himself. Said another way, we are fed by His “riches”; which is, “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). The branches in Christ Jesus are those whom God the Father “hath chosen” “in” God the Son “before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love” (Ephesians 1:4). At the instant we are born of the Spirit (John 3:1-8), we know and love our Lord and he nourishes us with the knowledge of His loving presence with us, with His leadership, with His protection, with His provision, and with the knowledge that He is our Eternal Savior. Those branches, in the Church-Bride of Jesus Christ are also fed with the Gospel and loving fellowship in His Church. To be in our Lord’s Church, is to be a practical “branch in” Him; for, in His Church our Lord feeds us with the knowledge of Himself, with the blessings of the Church’s Comfort in the times of life’s dreadful storms, with the fellowship of our Church family, with the joy of obedient worship of our God, and with the blessed Hope Of Eternal Life with our Lord. There is no other “vine” (John 15:1) as grand as “the true vine”, our Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. And, there is no greater joy than the joy our God gives in knowing that we are a “branch” in the Sovereign “vine”!
