2020-10-09 “God … will teach us of his ways … his paths”

Isaiah 2:3  “And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

The Lord our merciful “God” is the only perfect and absolutely-effective teacher.  When “God” calls and qualifies “pastors and teachers” (Ephesians 4:11), He empowers and Commands them to preach and teach the “word of God” and nothing else.  Paul declared it this way, “I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you” (I Corinthians 11:23); that is, he received teaching from “the Lord” and then he “delivered” that teaching to us via the Holy Bible.  The Lord’s preachers are Commanded to “teach no other doctrine” (I Timothy 1:3); that is, the “doctrine” (teachings) found in the Word of God.  Those who pinned the Word of God, received what God gave them and then they wrote down exactly what He gave them.  Now, faithful preachers/teachers preach/teach that same Word to the Children of God, even in our day.  As soon as one message/lesson is finished, the Lord’s preachers immediately begin to pray that “the Lord” will again impress their minds and hearts with the next message/lesson.  When “the Lord” sends them the next message/lesson, the faithful ministers of the Lord’s Gospel begin to pray and “Study to shew” themselves “approved unto God,” workmen “that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (II Timothy 2:15).  Those who do not sincerely apply themselves in Studying the Word and the message that the Lord sends them, they will be awfully “ashamed” when they stand up to preach/teach, for the Lord can withhold preaching grace from them.  The Lord can be quite harsh to a “slothful servant” (Matthew 25:26-27)!  But, there is one thing that no man can teach another: “they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest” (Hebrews 8:11).  The “Lord” Himself teaches His own Children to lovingly “know” Him when He gives them Spiritual Birth (John 3:1-8).  Then, the preachers/teachers are charged to build upon that foundational Knowledge Of God by preaching/teaching the Word of God.  When preachers preach/teach as they are led of the Holy Spirit, they preach/teach a message from “the Lord”!  [We must pray for the preachers, for they are not infallible, but God is!]  Peter refers to such preaching/teaching as Feeding the Sheep; with his Apostolic authority, he Commands Pastors to “Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;” (I Peter 5:2).  So, let us prayerfully hasten “to the house of … God” to hear and to learn the Lord’s Teachings!
