2020-10-13 “Unto thee will I cry”

Psalms 28:1  “Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.

As much as possible, Preachers ought to give themselves entirely to preaching and teaching the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and to Pastoring as under-shepherds to the “Good Shepherd” (John 10) and not get entangled with politics.  But, when we see a potential threat to our freedom to worship, it is our duty to exhort the Lord’s people to “cry” “Unto” the “LORD” our “rock”.  Prayer meetings are good, but now is the time for every one of us, even individually, to also everyday “cry” “Unto” the “LORD” our “rock”.  Let us pray that our “LORD” will not “be silent to” us; that is, that He will hear our “cry” and respond with action against “the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts” (Psalm 28:3).  And, let us pray that the “LORD” will “Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.  5  Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.” (Psalm 28:4-5).  We can be sure that, at some point, the “LORD” will indeed take action against “the wicked”, so let us also pray that He will not “Draw” us “away with the wicked” (Psalm 28:3); that is, when He puts down “the wicked”, pray that He will preserve His people and His Church, that He will continue our peace and liberty and freedom to worship.  For a long time, many in our Country have been drifting more and more toward absolute-centralized government control of our Nation.  These Socialist and Communist forms of government are enemies of true Christianity!  Let us earnestly pray that our “Lord” will maintain, in our Country, the freedom to worship according to His Holy Word, not as some government agency or organization defines worship.  Moral decency, integrity, value for God-given life, and freedom to live and worship according to God’s Word are now under threat!  Right now, is the time to “cry” “Unto” the “LORD” our “rock” as we VOTE to select our leaders!
