2020-11-12 God “shall send from heaven, and save me”

Psalms 57:3  “He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.  4  My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

The Psalmist describes a time in which His vicious adversaries stood against him.  It was like living amongst ravenous “lions” who were burning with the “fire” of hatred, who pursued him with such vitriol that the things they said were as “spears and arrows” and “their tongue” was like a “sharp sword”.  These were exceedingly hard times, his adversaries sought to “swallow” him “up”; that is, they pursued him to utterly destroy him.  But, in times like these, “God shall send forth his mercy and his truth”.  When we are at our whit’s end and we think that all is lost, “God shall send forth his mercy”; that is, the Sovereign Almighty God appears on the scene and defeats our adversaries in ways that we never could.  When is seems that our adversaries’ lies and deceptions will surely ruin us, our Gracious God appears on the scene with such overriding “truth” that the adversaries simply cannot stand against it.  Simply put, when it seems that our adversaries are about to totally defeat us, God sends “from heaven” and gets the victory every time!
