Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”
Right now, we have the opportunity to be one in the “cloud of witnesses”, the “cloud” of those who “live by faith”, being of good courage and encouraging others! Like those in Hebrews 11, round about us are those who are living by “faith”, having a good and positive attitude even in the very face of our present tribulation. James plainly tells us that “faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone” (James 2:17) and “I will shew thee my faith by my works” (James 2:18). The Children of God have “faith” because our Lord puts it in us (Hebrews 12:2) and we are expected to use it; that is, as Peter wrote, we are to “add” certain things to our “faith” (II Peter 1:5); things that put our “faith” into action. It is easy to “live by faith” (Hebrews 10:38) when there are no serious troubles or tribulations. Wringing our hands and crying woe is me is not living “by faith”! To “live by faith”, is to “shew” our “faith by” our “works”, to “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart” (Psalms 31:24), to “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” (I Corinthians 16:13), to “Fight the good fight of faith” (I Timothy 6:12), to “lift up the hands which hang down” (Hebrews 12:12), and to keep right on joyfully worshiping and serving our God even while we are plagued with this Coronavirus issue, even though we don’t have all the answers, and even though our Nation is plagued with confusion!
