2020-5-19 “when I am weak, then am I strong”

II Corinthians 12:10  “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

There are times in life when our natural “strength is dried up like a potsherd” (Psalms 22:15); yet, in these times of our weakness, we wonderfully discover that the “LORD is” our “strength” (Psalms 28:7).  In the service of our Lord, we should expect to be challenged beyond the limits of our natural strength, beyond the parameters of our mental strength, beyond our ability to endure, and beyond the boundaries of our natural talents.  As we look back in our lives, on one hand we muse, how did I survive THAT!?  On the other hand, we know how we survived such overwhelming things; we know that “when” we are “weak, then” we are “strong”; for, the “LORD is” our “strength”.  But, we live in the present, under clouds of confusion, pain, discouragement, and the ready knowledge of our own weaknesses and failings.  However, by our God-given “faith”, at our weakest moments, we can joyfully declare, “I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD” (Psalms 71:16).
