Ezekiel 34:12 “As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.”
Here is a repeating prophecy; it is a prophecy that actually occurred when the Children of Israel were “scattered” about by the Babylonian conquest and captivity. And, the “good Shepherd” (John 10:11) still cares for His “sheep” and still gathers His “sheep” together as the “Israel of God” (Galatians 6:16), the Church-Kingdom of our Lord (Matthew 16:18). This prophecy is just as true and valid today as it was when Ezekiel pinned it. From time to time, the Children of God do go through awful “cloudy and dark” days. In these “cloudy and dark” days they are often plagued with discouragement, anxiety, and even fear. But, just as in the days in which the Lord gathered Israel back to Jerusalem and caused them to abundantly prosper again (even in the face of great opposition), He will deliver us through these “cloudy and dark” days and into a brighter and more pleasant day for the “Jerusalem which is above” (Galatians 4:26); that is, the Church-Kingdom of our “good Shepherd”. There will surely come a day in which the “Sun of Righteousness” (Malachi 4:2) will shine brightly, pushing back the ominous clouds and darkness. A better day is ahead!
