Hebrews 3:14 “For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;”
To be “partakers of Christ” is to be a part of His blessed Church/Bride, to flee to Him for refuge in times of trouble and distress, to be nourished with His glorious Gospel, to rejoice in His magnificent hope of Eternal Salvation, to enjoy fellowship with His called-out saints, to find His wonderful rest in the very face of life’s tribulations, to experience peace that passeth all understanding, and to experience a little foretaste of our Eternal Home. To be “made partakers of Christ” is not to be “made” Children of God, for God’s Holy Election has already accomplished that (Romans 9:11; 11:5,7,28; Ephesians 1:4; I Thessalonians 1:4; I Peter 1:2). To be “made partakers of Christ” is not to be “born again” for that is the exclusive work of the Holy Spirit (John 3:1-8), we are simply the blessed recipient of Spiritual Birth. Three times the Psalmist describes these glorious blessings as “benefits”: Psalms 68:19 “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.”; Psalms 103:2 “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:”; Psalms 116:12 “What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?”. The Hymnist (Charles Wesley) said it this way, “O how happy are they Who their Savior obey, And whose treasures are laid up above! Tongue can never express The Sweet comfort and peace Of a soul in its earliest love.” (Number 284 in the Old School Hymnal, Twelfth Edition).
