2021-08-05 “Stand in awe” Of Our Sovereign, Almighty God [Taken From A Previous Note]

Psalms 4:3  “Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

As we go about our day, we are exhorted to “Stand in awe” of the Almighty God, noting His sovereign power and authority over our lives and all of our troubles, reflecting upon His mighty works, and resting in His promises.  Standing “in awe” of the Almighty God, strengthens and encourages us to focus our mind upon Him and to “sin not”.  We are all prone to “sin”, but when we “Stand in awe” of the Almighty God, our minds are distracted from “sin” and focused with pleasing “awe” upon Him.  When our day is done, we are exhorted to “commune with your own heart upon your bed”; that is, reflect upon our day in the service and presence of the Almighty God.  As we lay upon our bed, reflecting upon the majesty of our God, we are exhorted to “be still”; that is, do not allow the distresses of this present life to rob us of our peaceful rest.  This we can do if our minds are focused upon the greatness of our God!
