Psalms 4:5 “Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.”
While we are thankful for our intelligence, strength, natural talents, friends, and wealth; all of these will eventually fail us in this present life. There are problems that we cannot solve, obstacles that we cannot cross, pains that we cannot sooth, fears that we cannot overcome, and sadness that we cannot put away; but, our Lord can! With respect to our Eternal Salvation, none of these things, not even our works or “sacrifices of righteousness” can save us to Eternal Heaven. It is certain, that “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12). This name “Jesus” means Jehovah Is Salvation. Exclusively Jesus Christ our Lord, “hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (II Timothy 1:9). Our Lord came into this world to “save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21); and He did it, declaring “It is finished” (John 19:30); that is, when He had Sacrificed Himself, He had “finished” everything necessary to save his people from their sins”. The Children of God can “put” their “trust in the LORD” because He has given us Spiritual Life (John 3:1-8) and “faith” (Hebrews 12:2). But, things of this present world can discourage us, distract us, and confuse us; but, “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.” (II Timothy 2:19); and our Lord wonderfully declared, “of all which” the Father “hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day” (John 6:39)! Thus, our Lord tenderly exhorts us, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28).
