II Corinthians 1:18 “But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. 20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”
To be “yea and nay” is to be confusing and indecisive. Those who speak with “yea and nay” contradict themselves by misinterpreting and misapplying the Word of God. To speak with “yea” is to be clear, concise, and consistent throughout the Word of God. Our “God is not the author of confusion” (I Corinthians 14:33); “confusion” destroys “peace” in the hearts and minds of the Children of God and among the Churches and will adversely affect the society at large. It is the “false prophets” (Matthew 7:15) who introduce “yea and nay” teachings which are a plague to our quest for “peace”. It is certain that “all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen”; that is, they are clear and true and easy to understand. God “promised” Israel that they would possess the land of Canaan, and He made it happen (Joshua 23:5). Our God is the true Promise Keeper; “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.” (I John 2:25)! And, “Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?” (James 2:5). God is only “yea” in His Word; “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” (II Peter 1:4). And we are exhorted, “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (II Corinthians 7:1)!
