2021-12-31 “the path of the just”

Proverbs 4:18  “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

While “The way of the wicked is as darkness” (Proverbs 4:19), “the path of the just is as the shining light”.  In this context, “the just” are those who were made Eternally “just” by our Lord’s sacrificial death (II Corinthians 5:21) and who seek to show their love to our Lord by keeping His Commandments (John 14:15).  These “just” refuse to compromise the truth of God and strive with all diligence to live according to His Holy Word.  When “the wicked” have their way, life becomes dolefully dark and miserable; except for the few “wicked” who seem to do well as others suffer.  In contrast, “the path of the just is as the shining light” that pushes back the awful “darkness”, exposing the “wicked” and their “wicked” ways.  This blessed “shining light” beams out the truth of God and godliness, Christian love and fellowship, brotherly kindness, forgiveness, faithfulness to God and His word and His Church, and hope for “the perfect day”.  While the wicked’s “darkness” progressively deteriorates joy and peace; the just’s “shining light” just keeps shining out “more and more” joy and peace, always pointing toward “the perfect day” in which our Lord will appear in the Heavens and Command, “Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34)!
