John 11:33 “When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, 34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 35 Jesus wept.”
“When Jesus therefore saw” “Martha” “and the Jews also weeping” “he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled”! And, “Jesus wept.”! When we are troubled, our hearts are broken, and despair has set in; let us never forget that “we have” “an high priest which” is “touched with the feeling of our infirmities” (Hebrews 4:15)! Furthermore, the Holy Spirit in our Triune God comforts and helps us; “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:26-27). It is good to have an Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent God; but it is wonderful beyond description to have such a God that is also personally “touched with the feeling of our infirmities”, Who hurts when we hurt and weeps when we weep. We often hear someone say, “I know how you feel”; well, our Savior doesn’t just know how we feel, He feels what we feel. As our beloved Lord told His Apostles, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” (John 14:18)! So, my peace, my comfort, my joy, and the ease of my pain is found at the feet of my Lord and my Savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of God; it is there that I find true refuge!
