2022-04-15 “I came not to judge the world”

John 12:47  “And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

If He didn’t come to “judge the world”, what did He come to do?  The “angel”, speaking to Joseph before the Lord was born, clearly declared what our Lord was to accomplish in this “world”.  To remove any ambiguity or confusion, the “angel” concisely and clearly declared, “And she [Mary] shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)!  Even His very name, “JESUS”, declares His purpose; for it means “JEHOVAH IS SALVATION”!  We must note that “shall save” does not mean ‘offer salvation’, it means that He would without the possibility of failure accomplish what He came to do.  Later, our Lord further emphasized this truth when He said, “For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.  39  And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.” (John 6:38-39).  It is also important to note that this “world” of people that He came “to save” was “given” to Him “before the foundation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4).  Peter refers to this “world” as the “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father” (I Peter 1:2).  Said another way, He came into this physical “world” to Sacrifice Himself to pay the Sin Debt for the “world” of people that His Father had “chosen in him” and given to Him “before the foundation of the world”!  Eternal Judgment will occur in the end of this physical “world” (Matthew 25:31-34; Revelation 20:12-15).  But our Lord did fully and finally accomplished what He came to do, and He certified It complete when He declared on the Cross, “It is finished” (John 19:30).  So now we can worship with great joy, for our Lord “hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (II Timothy 1:9)!
