2022-06-09 “turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness”

Jude 1:4  “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

In this context, it is by the most blessed “grace of our God” that our Lord, Jesus Christ saved us from our sins (Matthew 1:21); that is, He and He alone rendered us Eternally innocent before God the Father so that on the last day of this present world those “whose names are” “written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (Revelation 13:8) shall not be condemned, but taken away into Eternal Glory to forever be with the Lord.  However, “certain men crept in unawares”, have severely abused this blessed old truth by “turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness”; that is, because “grace” is true, anything goes, all manner of behavior is acceptable because the Lord paid the sin-debt anyway.  Many have decided that the Word of God can be adjusted to fit their carnal desires, creating a party like atmosphere in church meetings, all kinds of immoralities are acceptable for Church members, coarse and unkind demeanors are acceptable, and dishonesties and deceptions are just part of modern life.  Paul also decried the tendency to follow this error: “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  2  God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” (Romans 6:1-2).  Sadly, some true “born again” (John 3:1-8) Children of God get caught up in this deception, but they are never really satisfied with it.  Those who instigate and promote such behaviors, are those who “crept” into Christianity “unawares”, they were not lovingly drawn in by the Holy Spirit; however, their “condemnation” is before them; for, ultimately, they even deny “the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ”.  It is our most solemn duty, to with all possible diligence, live out our lives being “stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (I Corinthians 15:58)!
