I John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”
We greatly imperil ourselves when we try to pacify “the world” that “knoweth us not” by blending in with them just enough to get along with them. The problem is, they are not interested in just getting along, they are “Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,” (II Timothy 3:3), they despise anything and anyone that strives to be morally “good”. As much as is possible, we should be kind and gracious to everyone; but, let us “be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2)! What we are seeing in our present day is the serpent exposing himself for the vile and vicious and hateful beast that he is. Periodically throughout history he rises up like this, but he never learns that the Good of our God and King overcomes and defeats him and his filthy, vile minions every time. Our duty in such times as this is to “endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (II Timothy 2:3), “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” (I Corinthians 16:13), “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11), “Not” forsake “the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another” (Hebrews 10:25), and “building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost” (Jude 1:20)! This is one of those times that we simply have to take a stand: “if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15)!
