I John 3:2 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
It is certainly true that as “the sons of God” we have only the most vague sense of “what we shall be” at the great “resurrection”, when our Lord appears to awaken our sleeping bodies; for, He will “appear” and command, “Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34). But, we are given enough knowledge, mixed with our faith, to make us anxiously look forward to that blessed and holy day. All sin and pain and shame will have been eternally removed from us. There will be no disappointments, no heartbreaks, no loneliness, no grief, no confusion, and no worry. While we have very few details, “we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him”; that is, our resurrected bodies will be perfect like our Lord’s, completely devoid of human imperfections and ailments. Our resurrected bodies will be holy and righteous and not capable of ever dying again. Our dwelling will be in “many mansions” (John 14:2), in “an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will” (Ephesians 1:11)! Oh Lord, I do not have the words to express the glory of THAT DAY!
