Philippians 2:1 “If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, 2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”
The “Spirit” of God is that Holy Thing flowing through the hearts and minds of all the Children of God, drawing and binding them together in this blessed “fellowship”. The Holy “Spirit” is the root and the strength of this “fellowship”. To have “fellowship” is to have a loving and responsible part in one another’s lives; those we have “fellowship” with are commonly referred to as ‘best possible friends’, those that we totally trust and rely upon and we would go to their aid at any time under any circumstance, and those with whom we first share our greatest joys. In this context, our first order of “fellowship” is with the Holy “Spirit” Himself and then among those who are “born” of the “Spirit” (John 3:6-8). The “fellowship of the Spirit” is highly attractive to the Children of God as it begins to blossom and bear the most desirable fruit of “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance” (Galatians 5:22-23). The “fruit” ripens and is the sweetest when all minds are turned toward Jesus Christ our Redeemer! There is no place on earth more pleasing than the “house of God” when the currents of this blessed “fellowship” are flowing freely from the “throne of grace” (Hebrews 4:16)! It is no wonder that king David jubilantly proclaimed, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.” (Psalms 122:1).
