Philippians 3:20 “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”
The Christian’s ultimate “hope” [sure anticipation], is our Great “change” on the Last Day of this present world. On the last day of this present world the “vile body” of each Child of God will be instantaneously changed, transformed. This great “change” will occur instantaneously at the Command of “the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ”. The “body” of each Child of God will be changed, no exceptions! Those who have died, their body will be changed at the instant of the Resurrection. Those who are alive at that time will be immediately changed. Paul explains it like this, “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” (I Corinthians 15:52-53). At that instant our “body” will no longer be “vile”; that is, it will no longer be weak and frail, it will not be subject to sin, sickness, pain, or death; it will then be immortally perfect in every way; for it will “be fashioned like unto” our Lord’s “glorious body”! Like our First Century Brethren, let us meditate upon this Great Day and look forward to it with sweet and blessed anticipation. If we do, our life’s tribulations will not seem so severe!
