I John 3:2 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
In our Resurrected bodies, “we shall be like” our beloved Lord and, with our own eyes, “we shall see him as he is”! Job declared that, even after his body had been deceased for a very long time, “in my flesh shall I see God: 27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me” (Job 19:26-27). Paul wrote, “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” (I Corinthians 13:12); that is, in this present life, through our God-given faith we can perceive our glorious “God” in a very limited way; but, when we are all “caught up together” to “ever be with the Lord” (I Thessalonians 4:17), “we shall see him as he is”. That is, see Him in His full Glory, beholding His indescribable Majesty. We shall look with awe upon the Lord Who Sacrificed Himself to save us from our sin. Our view of Him will not be hindered by human weaknesses and sin; but we shall see Him clearly, as He is The Savior in all His Infinite Power and Authority and absolute Perfection, yet He is Gracious and Merciful and Loving toward us. By faith we know that in our Resurrected bodies “we shall see him as he is”; and then we will have a clear view of Him! Our natural mind asks, can it really be true; but, our Spiritual Mind boldly declares, “I know that my redeemer liveth” and “mine eyes shall behold” Him (Job 19:25-27)! Knowing this to be true, robs “death” of its vicious “sting” (I Corinthians 15:55).
