I John 3:5 “And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”
Jesus Christ, the Son of God was and is the only Perfect Sacrifice for the Sins of His people. All of mankind is guilty of the sinfulness imputed from our forefather, Adam, and of the sins we commit our selves (Romans 5:12). So certain is our sinful state in this life that John wrote, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (I John 1:8) and “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (I John 1:10)! Thus, it is not possible that sinful man could pay his own sin-debt. The requisite for the sin-debt offering, is absolute perfection, and only the Son of God could meet the requirement. One of the sweetest truths of all is that, God the Father “hath made” our Lord Jesus Christ “to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (II Corinthians 5:21). Amazingly, our loving and gracious Lord willingly “made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:7-8) to sacrificially pay the sin-debt for all that the Father had chosen and given him before the foundation of the world (John 6:39, Ephesians 1:4)!
