I John 3:8 “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
On the grand scale of Holy Things, all “sin” rises from “the devil”, even in the Children of God. The Lord spoke directly to the core cause of “sin”, while speaking to Peter, He Commanded, “Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men” (Matthew 16:23). While we are committing “sin”, we are “of the devil”. The devil is the father of “sin” for he “sinneth from the beginning” and he perpetually pushes, draws, and entices even the strongest Children of God into “sin”. “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested”; that is, He wondrously and mystically appeared in this present world. He “was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil”; that is, destroy his works of “sin” in the Children of God. This He did, when He willingly sacrificed Himself to pay the sin-debt for everyone that God the Father had given Him, chosen in Him, before the foundation of the world (John 6:37-40; Ephesians 1:4). And now we rejoice to, “sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.” (Psalms 98:1) – our Lord wins and the devil loses!
