I John 3:15 “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”
Those who have “eternal life” live in “hope of eternal life” (Titus :1:2; 37) and this blessed “hope” is the product of God-given “faith” (Hebrews 11:1; 12:2). The evidence of this “eternal life” is the indwelling Spirit of the “Son” of God (I John 5:11); and not only does He indwell us; but, “we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” (I John 5:20). This most blessed union with the Son of God yields the sweet fruit of Brotherly Love, not murder. Thus, those who display the hateful ways of a “murderer” are not showing any evidence that they have “eternal life” (Jesus Christ) “abiding in” them; for, the hateful ways of a “murderer” are entirely inconsistent with our Lord’s grace and mercy. Such people are enemies of the Church; for, they oppose the loving peace and spiritual joys that our hearts so yearn for. This is one reason why our Lord cautioned us to “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” (Matthew 7:15).
