I John 4:12 “No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.”
“No man hath seen God at any time.”; but, the “born again” (John 3:1-8) Children of God know Him and love Him and are joyfully aware of His presence with them. God told Moses, “Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.” (Exodus 33:20), but He gave Moses and Israel the evidence (Pillar of Smoke and Fire) to know that He was always near and guiding them! He is always near, as Job declared, “Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.” (Job 9:11). Paul tells us that He is “invisible”: “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.” (I Timothy 1:17) and “Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” (I Timothy 6:16). The very essence of “faith” is that, though we have not seen God with our natural eyes, we know and believe that He is the Almighty God and that He is with us. His spiritual presence within us is the “faith”, “substance” and “evidence” whereby we have personal and loving knowledge of our God and perceive His Holy Presence with us. This blessed “faith” is a mighty force working in us; for, “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.”. Of all the grand things we experience in this life, the grandest of them all is the knowledge that the Holy Spirit of our God is both with us and within us! This grand knowledge compelled Paul to declare, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13); that is, “I can” face and overcome all the tribulations and challenges and setbacks and heartbreaks that appear in the path of service to my God because He (the unseen God) is with me and is my strength!
