Psalms 81:15 “The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever. 16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.”
“The haters of the LORD”, in the broadest sense, are those who have no Spiritual Birth; thus, they have no love for God, they despise His Commandments, and they view His Church as the house of the simple minded and ignorant. But, if they were as wise as they profess to be, they would know from history that those who fight against “the LORD” and His people lose every time. But, if they, even in their unregenerate state, had “submitted themselves unto” “the LORD” He would have blessed them to live on and He would “have fed them also with the finest of the wheat” and “fed them” “honey out of the rock”. When “the LORD” blesses His people, His blessings also spread to the unregenerate around them, “for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matthew 5:45). But, when “the evil” and “the unjust” begin to fight against God and godliness, they suddenly find that their condescending wisdom is no match for the Sovereign God. When “the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing” (Psalms 2:1), at a time and manner pleasing to “the LORD”, He will suddenly arrive on the scene to utterly defeat them and to deliver His people into another season of rest. While the “haters of the LORD” are being ignorantly hateful, our duty is to remain faithful to “the LORD” and “be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (I Corinthians 15:58)!
