2023-09-25 “be filled with the knowledge of his will”

Colossians 1:9  “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

Paul expounds upon the “will” of God in Ephesians Chapter One, describing coming to the “knowledge” of His “will”, as being blessed with “spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).  He tells us that God the Father “hath chosen us in him [Christ Jesus] before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:  5  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,” (Ephesians 1:4-5).  And, he tells us that God the Father “hath made us accepted in the beloved [Christ Jesus]”, and in Christ Jesus “we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:6-7).  Furthermore, He has “made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:  10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:  11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:” (Ephesians 1:9-11).  Thus, the “knowledge” (Truth) of His “will” is that, according to His “will”, and not our own, He chose His own people, saved His People, and Eternally Secured their Home in Heaven.  When He blesses us with “wisdom and spiritual understanding” of His “will”, we experience great strength in “faith” (Hebrews 11) and joy in the “gifts” He gives us (Ephesians 4:8) for use in His service.
