Colossians 1:16 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”
To illustrate that Jesus Christ is the Eternal Son Of God and that He is “the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature” (Colossians 1:15), by Divine Revelation, Paul declares that “by” Jesus Christ “were all things created”. The Apostle John says it this way, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:1-3). Moses quoted God, who during the Creation declared, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness …” (Genesis 1:26) He used the plural pronoun “us” to show that the Son of God was in the Triune Godhead and active in the Creation. The Doctrine of Creation along with the Doctrine of the Resurrection are often used to illustrate the Sovereign Power and Authority of God. It is no wander that our Lord’s adversaries go to great lengths to deny both of these blessed truths; for, as they instill doubt in people’s minds, they weaken their faithfulness to God, which allows the “antichrists” (I John 2:18) to lead the people away in to sin and ruin as we see happening in the world around us right now. Therefore, we have many exhortations like this: “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” (Hebrews 10:23)!
