Colossians 1:21 “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:”
The Children of God “who were dead in trespasses and sins”, our Lord “hath … quickened” (Ephesians 2:1); and, those who were “alienated and enemies in” their “mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled”. Those who are in this state of spiritual death do not and cannot love the Lord, are not interested in the things of God, and are adversaries of the Church of God. Yet, while in this dreadful state, the Lord “hath … reconciled” them to God by Sacrificing “the body of his flesh through death” and gave them Spiritual Birth to know and love Him (John 3:1-8). Our Beloved Lord’s Sacrificial Death rendered His people “holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight”. To be “holy” is to have been made pure and clean and sanctified to God. To be “unblameable” is to have been so purely cleansed from any sinful blots or blemishes or impurities that no blame or fault can be found. To have been made “unreproveable” is to have been rendered so righteous that no violation of God’s Law or Commandments can be found; that is, no one can “lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect” and no one can condemn them and nothing “shall separate” them “from the love of Christ” (Romans 8:32-35). Knowing of such loving grace and mercy from our Lord, we have every reason to “rejoice with joy unspeakable” (I Peter 1:8) and prayerfully ask, “What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?” (Psalms 116:12)!
