Colossians 1:23 “If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;”
We have “heard” “the hope of the gospel” “preached” by “the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God” (I Corinthians 4:1), who “are ambassadors for Christ” (II Corinthians 5:20), and who “count it all joy when” they “fall into divers temptations” (James 1:2) because they are faithfully laboring in the Word of God and Preaching the Lord’s “gospel”. The most pleasant moments of my life are those times in which I am blessed to hear some Preacher, filled with the Spirit of God, powerfully Preaching “the hope of the gospel” to the Glory of God and our spiritual nourishment. These beloved preachers are called from all walks of life, all levels of education, and some are well known and some hardly known. Some are skilled with near perfect grammar, and some have little knowledge of the grammar rules. Some are accustomed to public speaking and some a frightened by it. Some can afford the finest clothing, and some can only afford second-hand clothing. Some are handsome, but some are hard to look at. But, when the Holy Spirit begins to guide their minds and they begin to herald those blessed truths of Jesus Christ, their words lovingly grip the hearts and joyously fills the minds of the waiting Children of God. Because they so humbly and meekly bring such indescribably pleasant and nourishing “gospel” messages, they are said to be men with Beautiful Feet (Isaiah 52:7; Romans 10:15). These faithful Servants have no interest in speaking of themselves, they rejoice to speak of our Lord and Savior. It is no wander that David wrote, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.” (Psalms 122:1).
