2023-11-22 “Christ … Whom we preach”

Colossians 1:26-(28-29)  “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:  29  Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

The “Christ … Whom we preach” “is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords” (I Timothy 6:15).  It is He alone Who came into this present world to “save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21), “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12).  He plainly declared that “I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.  39  And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.” (John 6:38-39).  Those that the Father gave Him are the same as those whom the Father “hath chosen … in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love” (Ephesians 1:4), they are the “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father” (I Peter 1:2).  When He was Crucified, He declared, “It is finished” (John 19:30); that is, He had made His “chosen” “holy and without blame before him in love” by His Sacrifice.  And after His Sacrificial Death and Resurrections, “he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God” (Mark 16:19); from whence He now reigns as King and “High Priest” over His Church-Kingdom (Hebrews 3:1; 6:20-7:1).  Our Lord Jesus Christ “is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance” (Hebrews 9:15)!
