2023-11-30 “But there is forgiveness with thee”

Psalms 130:3  “If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?  4  But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

The “LORD” our God abounds in mercy and grace toward His people, He does not “mark” their “iniquities”; that is, He does not record them, so as to charge and judge His “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father” (I Peter 1:2) as unfit for Eternal Life.  Said plainly, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18).  Paul said it this way, “being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him” (Romans 5:9) and “Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.” (Romans 8:33) and “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died” for our sins (Romans 8:34) and nothing “shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39).  Knowing this to be true moves us to cry aloud “What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?” (Psalms 116:12) and “therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name” (Hebrews 13:15).
