Psalms 141:4  “Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

The motivation to say and do “evil” things rises from the carnal side of our “heart”.  So, the Psalmist prayed that the “LORD” would “Set a watch … before” his “mouth; keep the door of” his “lips” (Psalms 141:3) and to “Incline” his “heart” away from “any evil thing”.  That is to “Incline” his “heart” away from the “practice” of “wicked works with men that work iniquity”.  These “wicked works” are the deceitful and dishonest works of “men” who employ all manner of “evil” to obtain vain honor, wealth, glory, power, and position at the cost of others.  The “wicked” try to entice the Children of God to follow them by tempting them with their “dainties”.  The Psalmist recognized the tendency within him to do “evil” things; therefore, because of his deep and sincere love for the “LORD”, he sincerely and humbly prayed that the “LORD” would keep him from the “practise” of “wicked works”, “evil” behaviors.  The opposite of such “wicked works” is being “kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another”; that is, “preferring one another” above ourselves (Romans 12:10)!
