2024-03-08 “I know … My sheep”

John 10:27  “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me28  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Our Lord, being omniscient, is cognizant of everything and everyone; both His “sheep” and those who are not His “sheep”.  Contextually, He knows His “sheep” in a loving way, for He loves them with a “great love” (Ephesians 2:4).  He knows them as His “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father” (I Peter 1:2).  He knows them as those given to Him by His Father (John 6:37).  He knows them as those who have been “born again” by the Spirit of God (John 3:1-8).  He knows them eternally, as those that He “will never leave …, nor forsake” (Hebrews 13:5).  He knows them as those “whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:29).  His “sheep” are richly blessed to be under the everlasting watch-care of such a faithful and loving Good Shepherd!
