2024-03-22 “whole city was filled with confusion”

Acts 19:29  “And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.

The “whole city was filled with confusion” because Paul and the Brethren with him were preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and many believed and left their idols to worship the Lord.  Those who made their living off idolatry argued against the Gospel and even tried to legally stop it in court.  The Lord’s Church/Gospel has always struggled with such opposition; in some generations the struggles are more severe than others.  This kind of “confusion” is still present in our day.  There are some who despise anything to do with religion at all.  There are others whose religion fundamentally opposes Christianity, and their practitioners learn to hate the Christian Church and they seek to destroy it.  There are others who want just enough Christianity to get the benefits of it and use it for their gain.  Many in modern Christianity are compromising Biblical Doctrine, Practices, and Behaviors in hopes of persuading the unbelievers and pacifying them.  In our day the contrast between Biblical-Christianity and anti-Christianity is becoming more and more pronounced.  But the Biblical pattern is set; “Paul” “Gaius and Aristarchus” refused to compromise; as a result, they often suffered for the cause of Christ; but “Paul” came to the end of his life declaring “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” (II Timothy 4:7).  Now is the time for faithful Children of God to “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesian 6:11-13)!  Let it be truthfully said of our generation that we have “fought a good fight” and “have kept the faith”!
