2024-05-17 “Who is on the LORD’S side?”

Exodus 32:26  “Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

It is most concerning that there seems to be a growing view, in our day, that God is not really serious about our obedience to His Commandments or that they were only for people in Biblical times or that they are simply a guide or some summarily discount them altogether as not important or some consider themselves to be intellectually superior to the simpletons who need such Commandments.  But these are fatal views of God and His Holy Word.  The question “Who is on the LORD’S side?” is still a fitting question for our day.  Those who can be “on the LORD’S side” are those who have been chosen by Him (Ephesians 1:4) and have been given Spiritual Birth by the Holy Spirit (John 3:1-8).  We are known to be “on the LORD’s side” when we openly worship Him and show our love to Him by striving with all diligence to obey and serve Him.  Halfhearted allegiance to the “LORD” is not acceptable.  We are plainly told that “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:8) and “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:16).  To make it clear, our Lord puts it this way, “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.” (Matthew 12:30).  Furthermore, our Lord personally Commands us to “… seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).  While our “LORD” is certainly “merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth” (Exodus 34:6); yet, there comes a point in time in which He moves with His Righteous Wrath against sin and ungodliness and declares such things as, “An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.” (Ezekiel 7:2).  And Paul applies it to us this way, “Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:  21  For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.  22  Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.” (Romans 11:20-23).
