2024-07-03 “dwelleth in the secret place of the most High”

Psalm 91:1  “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the AlmightyI will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

To “dwell… in the secret place of the most High” is to perpetually remain faithful to the Lord, to always strive to show love to Him by our obedience to Him (John 14:15), to pray “without ceasing” (I Thessalonians 5:17), to “stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you”, to “fear not, nor be dismayed” and to never forget that “the LORD will be with you” (II Chronicles 20:17).  Thus, no matter where we are, whether we are in a crowd or alone, whether we are grieving or rejoicing, whether we are sick or well, whether we are rich or poor, etc.; we rejoice to dwell “in the secret place of the most High”!  Similarly, John tells us that “Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.  16  And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” (I John 4:15).  There is nothing on this earth more lovely or more peaceful than “the secret place of the most High”!  The world’s tribulations are cast upon us, but when it seems that the tribulations are going to absolutely devastate us, then “the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost” (John 14:26) magnificently comforts us and helps us.  Sometimes the tribulations are so dreadful that we don’t even know what to pray for; but “the Comforter” does, and there comes that blessed moment when “the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26).  Thus, we joyfully proclaim, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” (Psalms 23:6)!
