2024-11-01 “And it shall be said in that day”

Isaiah 25:9  “And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

And it shall be said in that day”; that is, “said” by the “elect”, “born again” (I Peter 1:2; John 3:1-8) Children of God.  Isaiah declares that these things would be “said” in the day when the Messiah, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, would come to this “earth” to “destroy” “the covering cast over the people”, to “swallow up death in victory”, to “wipe away tears from off all faces”, and to “take away” our “rebuke”.  They would say, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us”, as so they said it.  They plainly said it, for example, “And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.  26  And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.  27  And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,  28  Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,  29  Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:  30  For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,  31  Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;  32  A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.” (Luke 2:25-32).  I am made to rejoice as I reflect upon “Simeon” being so highly blessed to take “up” our infant Savior “in his arms”, to gaze into His glorious eyes, knowing full well Who he was holding in his arms.  He had come to “save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21); and He did exactly that, for when, while hanging on the Cross, He loudly declared, “It is finished.” (John 19:30), He had “finished” everything necessary to “save his people”.  Now, once again we are waiting, waiting to see Him “coming in the clouds of heaven” (Matthew 26:64) to take us to our Eternal Home, in our Resurrected Bodies (I Thessalonians 4:16)!
