Psalms 15:1 “LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.”
The Psalmist list the characteristics of those “who shall abide in” the Lord’s “tabernacle”. In, what is known as The Sermon On The Mountain (Matthew 5-7), our Lord expands this list for those who “abide in” His Kingdom. With such teachings as this, it seems to me that everyone should be anxious for their children and community and country to learn these things and to be taught how to apply them in their lives. John Quincy Adams (1767-1848), sixth U.S. president, wrote, “So great is my veneration of the Bible that the earlier my children begin to read it the more confident will be my hope that they will prove useful citizens of their country.”, He also wrote “My custom is to read four or five chapters of the Bible every morning immediately after rising . . . It seems to me the most suitable manner of beginning the day . . . It is an invaluable and inexhaustible mine of knowledge and virtue.”. Let us pray for our leaders that they will have and employ such zeal for the Word of God in their leadership; our Country will be a better place to live if they do.
