Micah 4:2 “And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”
After many generations of anxiously waiting for the Messiah to come; when He came, a great multitude heard our Lord’s teachings which mightily touched their “born again” (John 3:1-8) hearts; thus, He so wonderfully drew them after Him that they lovingly committed themselves to “walk in his paths”. His “paths” were much different than the “paths” taught by their religious leaders of that day. When our Lord delivered His opening Message for His Kingdom, He used such distinguishing language as, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old times … But I say unto you” (Matthew 5:27-28). The Old Testament Law (Word Of God) had been so grossly corrupted by their leaders’ humanistic teachings that it was necessary for Him to clearly reestablish the truth and to declare His Law. His people joyfully follow Him because “his ways”, “his paths”, His Commandments are adorned with His Love and Mercy. He went on to explain that “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:30) and James explained that “his ways”, “his paths” are very attractive to His people because “the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy” (James 3:17). And Paul declared, “the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead” (II Corinthians 5:14); that is, “constraineth us” to joyfully walk in “his ways”, “his paths”. Furthermore, our Lord tells us, “blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it” (Luke 11:28) and “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” (Revelation 22:14)!
