2024-11-29 Our Salvation And Calling “is now made manifest”

II Timothy 1:9  “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began10  But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

When Jesus Christ the Son of God arrived in this world as a Man, He was also known as the “Word” (I John 1:1, 14).  The word “Word” refers to an instrument or method of communicating.  Our Beloved Lord Jesus Christ came into this present world to communicate the “will of God” to His Children and to fulfill it: It was Jesus Christ “Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:” (Galatians 1:4).  Even now, the Lord has had “hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes” (Luke 10:21).  Paul refers to these blessed hidden truths this way, “Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:” (Colossians 1:26).  At first, even the Apostles new very little of this great “mystery” (John 14:8-9; Acts 1:6).  It was widely taught and understood that the Messiah was coming (Matthew 2:1-2; John 4:25); but, the perception was that He would restore the Old Testament Kingdom and would reign with all the pomp, and glory, and power of carnal kings; and their leaders would be elevated to high positions of power and authority.  Thus, the Jewish leadership did not recognize Him, for He came with great power, but also in true humility.  His Victory Parade was strange to their carnal minds, for the message when out to “Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.” (Matthew 21:5); which fulfilled one of the many prophecies of His coming (Zechariah 9:9).  But, on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2) the cloak that had kept this Grand “mystery” hidden, was pulled back and the Full Gospel Truth of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom was known and preached with great power and three thousand were added to the Church that very day.  Even now, there is overwhelming joy in preaching and hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ Our Lord!
