2024-12-23 Prayer For “the house of Onesiphorus”

II Timothy 1:16  “The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:

The Apostle Paul prayed for “the house of Onesiphorus” because he was a brave and faithful servant of God.  “Onesiphorus” was wise enough to not view Paul as a criminal just because he was imprisoned; for, Paul was in prison for preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Furthermore, “Onesiphorus” was faithful to the Lord and brave enough to imperil himself by being openly associated with Paul, and to even visit and help support Paul in his Apostolic Ministry.  This beloved Brother in Christ Jesus our Lord recognized that he could help further the Cause of Christ by helping his Lord’s Apostle.  Even in our day, we are blessed to have men like “Onesiphorus” among us; let us like Paul give thanks for them and pray that our Lord will be merciful to them and to their household (II Timothy 1:16-18).
