Psalm 141:1 “LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.”
The Psalmist seems to have been in an urgent and exceedingly grave situation; in which, he was facing great peril, and from a natural view there was no hope of being delivered. Therefore, he cries out, “LORD”! In issuing out his plea, he declares, “I cry unto thee”, not to any of the strange idols, not to some prominent human authority, not to his best human friend, and certainly not to his own intellect and strength. But, his “cry” is to the “LORD”, the sovereign, eternal God. He goes on to write, “mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust” (Psalm 141:8). This is a “Psalm of David”, so we know from the accounts of his life, that the Lord did hear him and did often deliver him from exceedingly grave perils in his life. Let us remember that, like David, we have an almighty Friend Who is not frightened, discouraged, nor hindered by the perils of our life; for, by His command we are graciously and mercifully delivered!
