2025-03-17 “Give unto the LORD” [From A Previous Note]

Psalm 29:1  “Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

Considering the “gift of God”, which “is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23), what can we “Give unto the LORD” “for all his benefits toward me” (Psalm 116:12)?  This exhortation seems specifically directed toward the “mighty”; that is, those in human positions of leadership, power, and authority.  Those in such positions often become exalted within themselves and neglect to humble themselves before the mighty God.  Thus, the “mighty” (as well as we) are exhorted to “give unto the LORD glory and strength”; that is, “worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness” (Psalm 29:2).  To “worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness” is to freely, openly, and joyfully proclaim His “glory”; to worship Him in prayer, in song, in preaching the Gospel, in hearing the Gospel, and in obeying the Gospel.  Let us daily “give unto the LORD glory and strength” and earnestly pray for our leaders that they will also “give unto the LORD glory and strength”.
