Psalms 5:2 “Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.”
In a time in which “wickedness” (Psalms 5:4) was a plague to “the righteous” (Psalms 5:12), the Psalmist declared, “unto thee will I pray”. This prayer was issued in confidence that God is “not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness” (Psalms 5:4) and He “hatest all workers of iniquity” (Psalms 5:4) and He “shalt destroy them that speak leasing” (Psalms 5:6) [“leasing” = lies and deceit]. The Lord has not changed: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” (Hebrews 13:8). In our present generation, in the face of “wickedness”, let us also be confident in our Lord that he “wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield” (Psalms 5:12).
