Psalms 37:3 “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.”
In the face of “The wicked” which “have drawn out the sword” (Psalm 37:14), Israel was exhorted to “Trust in the LORD, and do good”. To “Trust in the LORD” is to act upon our God-given faith, always learning and remembering God’s promises; such as, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) and “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10). To “do good” is to remain faithful and obedient to the Lord even when it seems easier to not “do good”. To “do good” is to “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” (Matthew 5:44). To “do good” is to “be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;” (I Timothy 6:18). The Lord promised Israel that if they would “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.”. God has likewise blessed His people today with a good and bountiful land; therefore, let us “Trust”, “do good”, and “pray”; while remaining “stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (I Corinthians 15:58).
